Holiday to do list or what we are working on now

The holiday season is characterised by lower user activity on the Internet. We can see this in our company by the fact that the pressure on customer and technical support is decreasing. Our statistics show that people just enjoy relaxing and don’t sit in front of computers as much. We always take advantage of this period to move forward with a lot of projects, improve the infrastructure and finish some of the rest. Plus, this year the Czechs decided to start enjoying themselves earlier and so June was a little bit of July for us 🙂

Christmas at WEDOS and how this year has been a mess

This year everything got pretty messed up for us, as it did for most of us. We had to improvise a lot, adapt to the current situation and overcome many problems. Fortunately, we are no longer a small company, but a successful large hosting company with plenty of financial and material reserves and a great team of people who have gained a lot of experience over the past 10 years and this year it was evident.

Data centre WEDOS 3 “kravín” – first virtual view

So far, 2020 is a very action-packed year for us. Several services are close to completion(WMS, WEDOS Cloud), others are being prepared for beta tests or are already being tested (WEDOS CD, WEDOS WebSite). It’s a good thing we recruited 5 new colleagues last year and will be adding more in February 🙂 However, we also moved forward with our third datacenter project. Since it will have sloping roofs and be in the countryside, we call it a “cowshed” 🙂

How datacentres are connected

In addition to our existing datacenter “Bunker” we decided to build a second datacenter “Trezor”, where the technology of cooling servers in an oil bath is completely used. The waste heat is then discharged into the municipal swimming pool. At the moment, the construction work has been completed and we are working on the internal infrastructure. At the end of April we blew out the optics. We learned a lot of new things and, of course, recorded everything for you.

How the DC1 modernisation is going – April 2019

Modernization of our first datacenter “Bunker” started last October. It was a long-planned project based on the newly gained experience with the DC2 construction and especially with the currently ongoing TIER IV certification. We had to start thinking differently, find new technologies and also adapt to the technological trends of today and the near future.

How the construction of our second datacenter is going

We are not afraid to write that our second datacentre will be one of the Czech technological uniquenesses of which we can all be proud. All servers in it will be cooled in an oil bath. This cooling technology is incomparably more economical than air cooling. In addition, it will allow us to move the excess heat to the nearby municipal swimming pool, where we will use it to heat the pool. This way, the bulk of the waste heat is recovered instead of being vented outside.

We are considering B2B/VIP services

We based WEDOS on services that suit most people, as much automation as possible and the ability to set up everything you need. Thanks to this model, we recently broke the 100,000 active NoLimit web hosts mark. We used to say that we are such a big web hosting factory. We have always claimed that our services can suit 98% of all potential customers. But I’m somewhere different now than I was five years ago, and we’re considering offering B2B/VIP services. Our customers are evolving and growing and we need to respond.
