In September, we also saw an increase in the number of attacks compared to the holiday months. In today’s report we will look at the “stronger” DDoS attacks on L3/L4 and probably the strongest L7 DDoS attack so far in terms of number of requests per minute. Of course, we will also discuss the building of WEDOS Global Protection and what we are currently working on.

WEDOS Global connects to the heart of the Finnish Internet to the FICIX Internet node

On Tuesday 10. On October 2023, at exactly 7:45 a.m., the first packets from the members’ network flowed through FICIX, Finland’s largest Internet node, to WEDOS Global. This is particularly important for customers targeting the Northern European market, as DNS server responsiveness and distribution of cached content will be significantly improved for their visitors.

Launch of the new WEDOS Global site in Ireland

We added another point to our global infrastructure in September in Dublin, Ireland and on Friday 15. In September 2023, the first user requests from our customers passed through it. For now, it handles traffic from Ireland and Iceland. Gradually, however, we will start to allow other traffic through this location where it makes sense for customers. The aim is to achieve the best possible response.

WAF report from WEDOS Global Protection for August 2023

The second holiday month was definitely not a time of rest. Firstly, we continued to build WEDOS Global, but also had to deal with the increasing activity of some botnets that did not primarily intend to carry out DDoS attacks, but were looking for vulnerabilities. When their requests collapsed at one point, they managed to make some of our customers uncomfortable.

WAF report from WEDOS Global Protection for July 2023

Even during the holidays we did not slack off and continued to build our WEDOS Global infrastructure. We optimized routing in selected locations, continued to arrange new ones and are finishing up some broken ones. As a result, we’re getting better response rates in several countries, and we’re also testing several new features that we’re going to make available to all users. Of course, there were also DDoS attacks, although in terms of number and strength it was more like a holiday traffic.
