WAF report from WEDOS Global Protection for February 2023

In February we deployed a new WordPress filter on our wedos.cz website. This has a number of pre-set rules that automatically block known attack attempts and vulnerability scanning on WordPress installations. In the future, it should replace the classic WAF (Web application firewall), which is now an essential part of all WordPress websites.

In 2023, our collective will grow nicely

The first customer support request came in 23 minutes after midnight. My colleague was able to check him in in a minute. Our services run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Whether it’s a holiday, a pandemic, a crisis, or a blackout. Everything has to be working around the clock and someone has to keep an eye on it. There’s always someone sitting in the data center, one staircase and several security doors separating us from the server room, and others waiting ready on the phone because they’re on call.

So began the year 2023 for WEDOS … we didn’t even know it 🙂

WEDOS was founded as a hosting company and domain registrar. At least in web hosting we have become the Czech leader and easily outperformed the competition. Now that we’ve been profitable for a few years, we’d like to do other interesting things besides hosting that we can do and there’s definitely a place for them on the market. The first is our decentralized network WEDOS Global and the second is the monitoring of domains and services WEDOS OnLine.

WEDOS Global Protection – some interesting facts from the automatic protection tests

WEDOS Global Protection will be the first service built on WEDOS Global. We are currently in an open testing state. As part of the trial, you can add your domain to wedos.global for free and try different forms of protection and traffic filtering. By mid-October, the number of testers had surpassed 100. You do not need to have a domain or hosting with us. We just need to use our nameservers.

Now over 1,000 large websites and even one e-shop with a turnover of around one billion crowns use WEDOS Global. Every second we handle several thousand pages there.

What you (can’t) pay for at WEDOS

At the beginning of the year, we significantly strengthened the parameters of the NoLimit service, especially in terms of computing power. This was especially appreciated by customers using content management systems with larger databases and customers whose websites are visited by a large number of visitors on a spur-of-the-moment basis. And it shows. The number of service cancellations due to “dissatisfaction with performance/speed” dropped almost 4 times. But it’s not just about increasing the parameters. Behind it are changes and advances that most customers are unaware of.
