help.wedos.cz is growing fast and we have big plans for it

Since about the beginning of the year we have been working intensively on a new solution where we could answer all questions together with our community of customers and fans not only about our services, but also about content management systems, e-shops, server management, programming and many other topics. At the beginning of July 2019, we launched an open beta test of help.wedos.cz and about a month later it exceeded 1000 users.

Introducing WMS. The place where hundreds of your sites can get millions of visitors

Right now we are running successful intensive alpha tests of our new WMS service, which we would like to introduce to you today. An open beta test is planned during August, which could then seamlessly transition into a fully functional service. The data and individual settings would remain on the servers for the testers.

The near future or what awaits us now

We regularly write about upcoming services such as WMS, WEDOS Cloud or B2B/VIP. However, these are more or less at the door. Specifically for WMS, we are fine-tuning the final details for the public beta test and expect to launch the service in August. WEDOS Cloud is stuck on a few small issues that the engineers will soon resolve and we are testing the final details. The new B2B/VIP is already in test operation. As far as the WEDOS 2 Datacentre is concerned, they are already finishing the works there so that the test operation can start after the holidays. The Datacent WEDOS 1 upgrade has successfully completed the first part of two. But what’s next? 😉

It’s time to upgrade WEDOS NoLimit and bring it to the top of shared web hosting!

Our shared web hosting NoLimit is the most popular and most widely used web hosting in the Czech Republic. In the eight and a half years since the launch of the service, almost 174,000 services have been ordered, of which approximately 104,000 are active. In total, we host about 140 thousand active domains on NoLimit web hosting.

Eight and a half years is a really long time for an internet service. You can see that in 2010 we had an estimate and came up with a groundbreaking service, but times have moved on. We have therefore decided to take the next big and important step. We will increase the parameters of the service according to the current requirements of modern websites of today, including a reserve for the future.

How datacentres are connected

In addition to our existing datacenter “Bunker” we decided to build a second datacenter “Trezor”, where the technology of cooling servers in an oil bath is completely used. The waste heat is then discharged into the municipal swimming pool. At the moment, the construction work has been completed and we are working on the internal infrastructure. At the end of April we blew out the optics. We learned a lot of new things and, of course, recorded everything for you.

Better and stricter filtering of attacks and unnecessary robots in web hosting

In the second half of 2015, we launched our IPS/IDS (Intrusion Prevention Systems and Intrusion Detection Systems). At first it was only tasked with monitoring traffic on our servers (it was an IDS). We were surprised by the huge number of attacks. For example, the number of attacks on the WordPress login page (wp-login.php) averaged 8 per second. Early last week (15.4.2019) we compared it and it was already a whopping 63 attempts per second. And we can only detect activity on HTTP so far. However, more than half of our services already use HTTPS.

How the DC1 modernisation is going – April 2019

Modernization of our first datacenter “Bunker” started last October. It was a long-planned project based on the newly gained experience with the DC2 construction and especially with the currently ongoing TIER IV certification. We had to start thinking differently, find new technologies and also adapt to the technological trends of today and the near future.
