Our shared web hosting NoLimit has over 135,000 domains (no other hosting in the Czech Republic or Slovakia comes close to this number). The vast majority of hosted domains use common content management systems (CMS). The most used ones can be installed from our administration with one click. Among them, however, one far outweighs the others – WordPress.
New versions of PHP 7.2 and 7.3 on NoLimit
So far we have been deploying new versions of PHP fairly quickly, but PHP 7.2 has dragged on a bit. Since the end of 2017, we have switched to a completely new infrastructure. All services run on our own cloud solution built on powerful HPE Moonshot servers with 3.7 Ghz processors and NVMe SSDs. HPE Moonshot servers are designed to run large-scale cloud services and it shows 😉

Pennies make plates (or even hundreds of thousands) or why we need to introduce penny prices
In December, in a series of articles, we introduced you to the issue of the price increase of .CZ domains by the CZ.NIC registry. Unfortunately, the whole situation has another unpleasant impact that we had to start addressing this year.

We started thinking about WEDOS Energy around the middle of last year. It’s the perfect way to support conferences, meetings and even smaller gatherings.

Our developers are continuously working on various tasks divided according to priorities. When the time comes, they deem it appropriate or something is really urgent, they make an update – Release. For WEDOS, all such updates are numbered according to the date of issue. According to records, 13 have already been issued this year. Let’s take a look at today’s one.
Why WordPress and WEDOS
After moving our website to a new solution using WordPress, we are often asked why we chose this particular content management system and not something else. We jokingly reply that it’s because WordPress and Wedos start with W.
Apologies for short-term non-compliance with the domain price promise
Public promise
A few years ago, we promised that we would in the future:
- sell (register) domains at purchase prices
- extend at purchase prices

WMS (Webhosting Managed Server) – Introduction of the service concept
We have been working on the VMS (Virtual Managed Server) service for a long time. You often ask about her and would like to see her with us at last. The first concepts are more than 4 years old. We have been working on two versions in the meantime, but we have not finished either of them. Either it failed on lack of time and forces for development or simply the chosen technology has already been surpassed. Everything is moving forward very quickly and we have also made progress. In the end, we decided to stick to our motto – we will make the best service that will suit the majority of our customers.

Reflection on the price increase of .CZ domains
There is still dancing on board, but at WEDOS we are enlightened ( 🙂 ) and so we know very well that the end of the good times and prosperity is coming to an end. In the Czech Republic we are currently having a very good time. If you get to know more countries in the world, not only from the view of the hotel, but also how people live there, you have to admit that the Czech Republic is currently one of the best places to live in the world. We don’t realize it and so we don’t appreciate it. Somehow we forget that the economy works in cycles. Add to that our dependence on neighbouring countries (and the fact that we are an assembly plant). The addiction is huge. At WEDOS we don’t want to be an assembly plant, but we are always moving forward and always inventing. We are building one of the most efficient datacenters in the world and we hope to patent the whole thing 🙂 .

National Registry CZ.NIC makes .CZ domains more expensive
Times are bad and the economic crisis is imminent. Electricity is getting more expensive, gas is getting more expensive, mortgages are going up and unfortunately we have to make .CZ domains more expensive. The National Registry of .CZ domains, which is managed by the organization CZ.NIC, z.s.p.o., the monopoly domain administrator, is increasing the price of .CZ domains by 20 crowns per year.
