This month we have completed the modifications to our network. Over the last few years, there have been a few improvisations hastily created that would do no good in the future. As we plan to scale everything, we need to have order in such an important part of the infrastructure as the network.

Most of us would like to be back in the office again, but management has decided that we will have to work from home for a while. At least some of us. Our datacenters are always busy, we are not just hosting providers 😉
Just a week ago, I bragged on social media how we were hit by another major DDoS attack after a long time (traffic was up to 32 Gbps with 5-minute averages). Well, we almost missed the record holder. Or rather, they overslept because we didn’t even notice.
Last December, we told you that we were embarking on ICANN accreditation, which would allow us to become a direct registrar for the most popular domains. And now it’s here 🙂
When we addressed the pandemic plan for our company’s operations last month, we treated it more like a paper test to see how ready we were to go fully online. We took it with exaggeration and a certain amount of humour.
Last week we also had an ISO certification and it was discussed there as well, we wanted to know how well prepared we were and what to improve.

Our developers are constantly improving our system. Most updates bring only minor changes to customers, so we don’t write about them. Today’s update, however, focused on the frequent comments we receive from you and user-friendliness improvements.
Two weeks ago, rather for the sake of interest, we published a detective story How we protected our customers’ websites from a critical bug in the WordPress plugin ThemeGrill Demo Importer. We didn’t expect it to generate such a response and get so many inquiries. That’s why we decided to write another example of the work of our security team.

Beta tests of WMS and WEDOS Cloud services are over. Dozens of testers provided us with very valuable feedback that allowed us to take our services one step further. It’s taken longer than we planned, but if you’re working on a revolutionary service that’s supposed to outperform the competition, you have to expect to hit a number of snags.

On Monday 17.02.2020, thousands of our customers’ websites faced a massive security vulnerability that could have completely wiped out their websites in a split second.
Or one detective story from behind the scenes of WEDOS. No censorship.
So far, 2020 is a very action-packed year for us. Several services are close to completion(WMS, WEDOS Cloud), others are being prepared for beta tests or are already being tested (WEDOS CD, WEDOS WebSite). It’s a good thing we recruited 5 new colleagues last year and will be adding more in February 🙂 However, we also moved forward with our third datacenter project. Since it will have sloping roofs and be in the countryside, we call it a “cowshed” 🙂
