New way to change the owner of a CZ domain

[gtranslate]

We now offer an electronic form of confirming the change of the owner of a CZ domain, where there is no need to send paper applications with officially certified signatures.

For CZ domains, we offer 2 ways to confirm a change of owner (both methods are described in more detail later in this article):

  1. the change is confirmed by the original and new owner by email and SMS
  2. the change shall be confirmed by the original and new owner by written application with officially certified signatures

The new electronic method without paperwork can only be used if both the original and the new contact are correctly listed in the CZ.NIC register:

  • a working email address
  • phone number where you can send SMS (only in the Czech Republic, area code +420)

If any of these are not met (at least one contact has any of the details not listed, incorrect or not applicable), then the electronic confirmation cannot be made and a confirmation by written application with officially certified signatures must be used.

Why is it so “complicated”?

We do not and will not offer an easier way to confirm a change of ownership. There is no way to confirm the change by simply clicking on the link without including your phone number, SMS password and authorization passwords. It is too easy to abuse and then very difficult to prove and trace.

Do not take these “complexities” as evil. It is, in turn, the security of our customers’ domains. It is important to remember that domains have value. Often they are the most valuable thing about the whole company. And any gambling with domain ownership is quite risky. If a company loses a domain, it may as well shut down and quit. From that perspective, domain protection is very important. We certainly don’t like one-click solutions in the administration or somewhere in the mail.
