After long preparations, we have completed the offer of dedicated servers. We hope you will like our offer.
We finally have a definitive version of our dedicated servers for you! They are already awaiting transport in our supplier’s warehouses. They will be delivered to us within the next week and we will start preparing for the launch of the service. It’s time to introduce dedicated servers, with which we want to compete far and wide…
Starting from April
We want to know the opinions of our customers, so we will publish the complete offer before launch. We will officially deliver the servers from 1. April 2014, but for eager customers we will be able to launch the servers earlier.
What’s the point? What was the assignment.
We want to offer an unbeatable or very competitive offer.
Our datacentre is “empty”, it is about one sixth full, so we have a lot of room for growth. Moreover, we are still toying with the idea of building a second datacenter.
We want everything to be extremely economical, reliable, maintenance-free and simple for our clients. There is power in simplicity.
We want an offer that we don’t have to update every month, but that will last for a year.
We want to have the fastest possible service, practically within a minute of reporting a fault. Yes, we are planning that if a client reports a fault, we will immediately assign another server where he will be able to start his services immediately. So realistically, problems will be solved in minutes. Given our physical presence in our own datacenter, this is realistic. Since our support is available 24/7, this is realistic.
Of course, we want to have a sufficient density of servers within one rack on the whole service.
We want the service to make economic and business sense not only for us but also for our customers. It has to be a win-win.
We want every customer to be able to change the operating system themselves at any time, without our assistance (KVM – remote keyboard, video and mouse as part of the server). We want every customer to be able to remotely access and restart. Although we consider these things to be commonplace, many leading providers around the world and in Europe charge extra for such things.
We want everything without any obligations, everything without any conditions.
We want everything without measuring the transmitted data. Just no complications on all sides.
Excellent price
After much testing, analyzing, negotiating, bargaining, and more bargaining, negotiating, testing, etc. … we have decided to add a dedicated server to our official offer, which we think will be ideal for the Czech market. Thanks to the effort we have put into preparing this service, we have managed to combine performance and versatility at a very affordable price. The price is listed below for the variant. It should be noted that most servers include permanent KVM (remote keyboard, video and mouse, including remote reboot and installation).
Service and quality are essential
Our dedicated server emphasizes not only performance, but also reliability. All components are designed for servers to withstand the maximum load of nonstop operation. Hard drives of both types are always in pairs in each server so that you can protect your data. In addition, thanks to a single identical variant, in the event of a serious failure, we can take the disks from the failed server and put them immediately into a new one. Everything will be up and running in a few minutes. In the same way, we want to offer all clients that in case of a problem we will provide them with a replacement server in the same configuration.
Of course, everything associated with dedicated servers is dual. Whether our UPS, switch or sockets go down, you won’t know it. This is also true for connectivity. We are connected via several routes, each catered for by a different company and with different technology.
Speed of set up
This also relates to the way we want to set up the service. One option means that our technician does not have to modify components. The server is in a rack and its activation will be similar to VPS. That means you can have a dedicated server up and running within five minutes.
Limits aside
Last time, a question was asked about data transfers. We don’t want to put any limits or restrict speeds. Ideally, we should follow some fair use principles.
So it will be that each dedicated server will have a 1Gbps port and will be guaranteed to have 100 Mbps. So we won’t charge regular customers for any data and there will be no limits…
If you use connectivity above 100 Mbps for more than 5% of the time in a month, i.e. more than 36 hours per month, we’ll limit the speed to 200 Mbps. Of course, we understand that dedicated servers are not web hosting and some of you simply need to transfer larger volumes of data. In this case, we will agree individually on the price for the transferred data. Our idea is to sell them at our purchase prices.
Safety, safety and safety again
One of the reasons why we are only now launching dedicated servers is the increased level of physical data security. We defended ISO 27001 (information security management) for the entire datacenter. We have made several improvements to security measures (fire detectors throughout the building, alarms and bars throughout the building) and more will be added soon. We intend to turn the WEDOS data centre into an impregnable fortress. As you know, it is much easier to steal data physically than virtually. Those who have their clients’ data with us can safely say that no one unauthorized can get to it.
What we have prepared – server for demanding clients
Server usable for more demanding use.
A real server processor
CPU: server Intel Xeon E3-1230Lv3 – 1.8GHz, 8MB cache, 4 cores, 8 threads – model year 2013 (*)
Actual server memory
RAM: 32 GB RAM ECC 1600MHz
Real server drives
HDD: 2 pieces SATA III 1TB HDD 2,5″
Optional true server SSDs (then the server has 4 drives – 2 SATA and 2 SSDs)
SSD: 2 pieces 120GB SSD 2.5″
RAID: SW 0, 1, 10
LAN optional 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps:
- 100 Mbps shared port with 1:12 aggregation
- optional 1 Gbps port – guaranteed 100 Mbps without any limitation of transferred data (to all directions – Czech Republic, Slovakia, abroad). This allows the server to use the entire 1 Gbps to cover peaks and transfer hundreds of TB of data (**).
Optional KVM:
- Temporarily KVM connected by a technician upon request, the connection will be made in 24 hours at the latest and for a maximum of 24 hours per month. Restarts solved through technicians.
- permanently connected KVM without restrictions directly in the server – remote management, remote reboots at any time, reinstallation at any time without our assistance.
Remark:
The number of servers without SSDs and without KVM and with 100 Mbps port will be limited. We strongly recommend the better option.
Price per server 4 cores, 8 threads, 32 GB ECC RAM, 2 – 4 hard drives
The price is set at 1.500,- without VAT per month for 1 year for the basic variant (without permanent KVM, SSD and 100 Mbps port). When paying per month, the surcharge is 10% = 1.650,- without VAT per month.
The variant with SSD drives, permanently connected KVM and 1 Gbps port has a price set at 2.500,-CZK without VAT per month for 1 year.
When paying per month, the surcharge is 10% = 2.750,- without VAT per month.
There is an installation fee of one monthly fee for the service.
There is no commitment and the service can be booked for any length of time.
What does the server look like?
Handsome 🙂 Here is a picture.
Good price, no hidden fees, quality included
We have no doubt that our price offer is very attractive. We spent a long time comparing offers from competitors across Europe. You can find some better offers, but there are no used server components, elsewhere there is no such service (replacement server online) or elsewhere there are many hidden fees (for example for using KVM).
For example, there are no charges for over-the-limit data transfers, which elsewhere cost EUR 2 per TB (for example, after exceeding a certain volume of data transferred).
Our price is about 55 EUR (or 90 EUR in the variant with additional options) per month. For that price it is not quite common to get a server with such equipment, with such service and without hidden fees (for transferred data, for using KVM, etc.).
What else are we planning – maybe soon, maybe later…
We are preparing another option, but we do not know if there would be interest in it. Write to us.
A server that will mostly be enough, as CPU is usually not an issue on any of the servers.
CPU: server Intel Atom S1260, 2.0GHz, 1MB Cache, 2 cores, 4 threads – model year 2013 (*)
RAM: 8 GB RAM1333MHz
HDD: 1 or 2 pieces of SSHD 1TB HDD 2.5″ hybrid (HDD, where there is a classic HDD, but part of the capacity – 32GB – is basically SSD) – we are still solving the final variant
RAID: software only
LAN optional 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps:
Remark:
The number of servers without KVM and with 100 Mbps port will be limited. We strongly recommend the better option.
Price per server 2 cores, 4 threads and 8 GB ECC RAM, 1 – 2 disks
The price of this second variant of dedicated servers will be very attractive and our assumption is 550 CZK per month without VAT for the basic variant (without permanent KVM and with 100 Mbps port).
The price with permanent KVM and 1 Gbps port would be 900 CZK per month without VAT.
If you pay by the month, there is a 10% surcharge.
There is an installation fee of one monthly fee for the service.
There is no commitment and the service can be booked for any length of time.

Remark:
(*) We have selected the processors specifically with regard to eco-friendly and economical operation. They don’t dazzle with high GHz values, but in our experience processors in servers literally get bored.
(**) With this method, you can use the capacity of the entire port at peak times, i.e. 1 Gbps, while you are guaranteed 100 Mbps. If you use connectivity above 100 Mbps more than 5% of the time, you will be notified and the speed will be capped at 200 Mbps or an individual charge will be agreed. There will be no data transfer fees, etc. and so the 100 Mbps is guaranteed for a specific server.
The server can thus use 1 Gbps to cover peaks and transfer tens of TB of data.
